Robot Dancing World Record set by Aussies Dancers

You'd think an attempt to break the world record for people dancing in robotic unison would surely have closet sci-fi fans rushing for the dancefloor.

But in reality, organisers hoping to pull 1,000 people to the University of Melbourne to cut some robot moves on Tuesday struggled for numbers.

The attempt to break the previous Guinness world record, set by 276 students from England's University of Kent, attracted uni students and even several mothers looking for a fresh way to entertain their children on school holidays.

Eventually, they broke the record when 351 people signed up after some last-minute coaxing from organisers.

Minutes before the robot-dancing fanatics were about to launch into a choreographed routine to break the record, organisers pleaded for at least 20 more people to join in so the attempt could go ahead.

After the first official attempt failed - some who signed up had turned into wallflowers - they broke the record on the second attempt at 1.25pm on the south lawn of the university, dancing for five minutes and 23 seconds.

American exchange student Justin Brooks and his friend Monica Griffin, both 23, rose to the occasion by wrapping themselves from head-to-toe in foil.

Upturned milk crates covered in foil and plonked on their heads completed their carefully crafted robot costumes.

Ms Griffin, who was visiting from New York, said she was roped in by her enthusiastic friend.

"He himself loves to be centre of attention, so since I was going to be here he convinced me to join with him," she giggled from behind her mask.

The world record for "most expensive virtual item sold" has been raised, as a man has purchased real estate inEntropia Universe for a staggering $330,000 in real-world money.

Despite not being a household name like World of Warcraft or Second Life, Entropia Universe is one of the most interesting virtual worlds out there simply because it fully embraces the concept of RMT - that is, real-money transactions: Paying real cash for virtual stuff. The in-game currency, or PED, has an exchange rate of 10:1 with the USD, and the game actually has a license from the Swedish government to act as a real bank.

In 2006, Entropia personality Jon Jacobs mortgaged his house to buy an online asteroid in the world for $100,000, then a record for the most expensive in-game purchase ever. Jacobs proceeded to set up an exclusive in-game club called "Club Xanadu", and would go on to be a real-life businessman in a virtual space to recoup his money.

Now, an Entropia player named Buzz "Erik" Lightyear (or should that be Erik "Buzz Lightyear" Insertlastname?) has shattered Jacobs' record, winning an auction for the prized Crystal Palace Space Station for $330,000 - that's more money than a lot of real houses would go for. It isn't quite a dumb buy, though - Lightyear will receive a cut of the profits of all transactions that occur on the station, as well as income from players who decide to hunt rare creatures in the station's proving grounds.

It's pricey, and seems kind of silly, but hey - it's certainly a better investment than one of those gold Wiis.

Burj Dubai - World Tallest Building 2010 set World Record

The tallest skyscraper has been built by Dubai. Today, on Monday, Dubai is going to inaugurate the largest and tallest skyscraper of the world with hope that it will help Dubai to make an end of the present recession that hit UAE badly and especially Dubai. Burj Dubai, 160 story-building, took $1.5 billion Dollars to build i.e. approximately $9 million per floor.

The exact height of the skyscraper was not released by the builders because it was scheduled to be announced today at the time of inauguration. Emaar Properties, the builder, says that the spire is 800 yards tall. Officially, the tallest skyscraper will be inaugurated by the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid Bin Al-maktum, and Sheikh Rashid will announce the height of the tallest building of the world.

The 90% booking has been completed in a mix of residential units, offices and shopping malls. Emaar chairman, Alabaar, is in festive mood. He is not bother of recession. He says that crises come and go. He believes that you can face all the difficulties and you have to go on because if you stop taking decisions, you stop growing.

The previous tallest skyscraper was the Taipei 101 in Taiwan with a height of 508 meters and here comes the Burj-Dubai with acclaimed height of 818 meters.

There will be a massive fireworks show after inauguration and besides this it will be a peace full moment for ruler who is worried about the current economic situation of Dubai. Cleaning crews have been cleaned the windows and plaza at base. There will be a tight security and it is being said that more than 1000 security personnel will be deployed to secure the site in which plainclothes police and sharpshooters are also included.
It took whole 6 years to build the Burj-Dubai and every third day the engineers were started a new floor. They worked 24 hours in the 7 days of a week.
